My work explores brushstroke behavior. The brushstrokes begin with brawn, walk with motion, and end with thought. Each stoke is like electrocardiogram, tracing the heart's electrical activity. The execution of brushstrokes express my character and originate from my thoughts on the subject. Yet in the women series, the brushstrokes portray the composition of a woman's body through a single smooth motion. When the brushstroke is a line, we imagine a space around it, but when the brushstroke becomes breathing, it embraces the continuity in a circle of life and growth.
Established in Michigan (2013), Siyang began developing a personal artistic practice based on her international experience, range of fine art painting, drawing, and calligraphic skills. Nowadays, she is devoted exclusively to the pursuit of portraying the anonymity of etiquette in the contemporary world. Examining the subtle versus the stark contrast of eastern and western interpretations of etiquette and its portrayal as human versus animal, a duality that reflects on the character and identity of a being.
