This artwork blends the coming-to-America stories of Katarzyna’s and Yona’s lives with that of the biblical prophet Jonah / Yona. The art touches on issues of identity, immigration, and heritage, through a blend of visible images and “augmented reality” images and video trigger.
I am a Dutch-born artist residing in New York City. I create works that explore identity, immigration, heritage, tikkun olam, and kabbalah. I hold a Master’s degree in fine art from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, and I have shown in and curated for galleries and museums nationally and internationally, including the Andy Warhol Museum and the Holocaust Center. I've been featured by the New York Times, the New Yorker, and many other publications. I am also the founding director of the Jewish Art Salon, the world's largest community of Jewish Artists.
