Not many of these old saw mills are left in the Serra's any more.
I sketched this old mill a few years back...huffing and puffing away.
I felt the colorful energy it was generating as it digested some Serra forest. It now stands quiet and empty, no longer spitting
out boards.

This is a six color linoprint. Printed on an etching press on heavy weight etching paper.

BILL STEWART I'm a retired "Mad Man" from the ad agency business. I love to work in an impressionistic style and have become interested in some of the older and traditional techniques such as egg tempera and making paint by mixing the raw pigments into linseed oil. i enjoy experimeting with various medias and explore areas of a looser, "brushy" style to escape the confines of the tight commercial art word. Living in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are influenced by the vivid, sunlit colors and strong shadows along with scenes sometimes cloaked in fog. I enjoy painting landscapes in plein air as well as in my studio. Also, I love still life, some figurative painting and abstract. I work in both oil and acrylics and some watercolors and dyes.
