The late afternoon light had turned this house into a light violet hue in the early fall days at Point Reyes, CA. I had to quickly capture this image in plein air because of the changing light at that time of day. Acrylic paint was perfect for this image because it dries so quickly outdoors. Point Reyes is near the Pacific ocean and is on the way to the many beaches located in the area.
BILL STEWART I'm a retired "Mad Man" from the ad agency business. I love to work in an impressionistic style and have become interested in some of the older and traditional techniques such as egg tempera and making paint by mixing the raw pigments into linseed oil. i enjoy experimeting with various medias and explore areas of a looser, "brushy" style to escape the confines of the tight commercial art word. Living in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are influenced by the vivid, sunlit colors and strong shadows along with scenes sometimes cloaked in fog. I enjoy painting landscapes in plein air as well as in my studio. Also, I love still life, some figurative painting and abstract. I work in both oil and acrylics and some watercolors and dyes.
