This is one of a series of country ball parks I have been painting.for several years-Country Ballpark 4
I love these small, humble little ballparks that often come alive on the weekends or after school. Sometimes they can look a little abandoned and lonely but still hold a promise of a pick up game anytime. Without players or fans these little parks can appear a little haunting and one can almost hear the distant sounds of all the games played there in the past.
In this painting, I added the players and a few Saturday fans.
This is the way life should be and it doesn't get any better than that.
Acrylic paint on gesso panel. Finished with 3 coats of satin acrylic varnish.
BILL STEWART I'm a retired "Mad Man" from the ad agency business. I love to work in an impressionistic style and have become interested in some of the older and traditional techniques such as egg tempera and making paint by mixing the raw pigments into linseed oil. i enjoy experimeting with various medias and explore areas of a looser, "brushy" style to escape the confines of the tight commercial art word. Living in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are influenced by the vivid, sunlit colors and strong shadows along with scenes sometimes cloaked in fog. I enjoy painting landscapes in plein air as well as in my studio. Also, I love still life, some figurative painting and abstract. I work in both oil and acrylics and some watercolors and dyes.
