Mythic story-telling needs a setting. This mixed media piece focuses on the setting of a tale from The 1,001 Nights. It's broken form is inspired from the way the tales in The 1,001 Nights stop and start abruptly and create pauses in Shahzad's tales. The whole of a narrative can go through multiple days.

Born in Orange County, California, William Lennertz was raised in Huntington Beach where he spent his early years soaking up sun, television, comics and literature. He was a dreamy child with his head in the clouds and his hands in the dirt. After meeting his wife and life-partner early in life, he pursued his creative spirit at California State University, Long Beach and George Mason University where he studied writing. Following some wonderful years, a few dark ones followed. During a period of life readjustment, William's creativity turned to visual arts--the perfect curative for a life of words. Currently residing in Laguna Hills, California, William devotes his time to art and writing. When he isn't creating, he's a college English professor at Santiago Canyon College, where he's worked for the last 26 years.
