This work is a meditation on the contrast between our external struggles and internal workings. It reflects the build up of thoughts and ideas before a major shift - a letting go - a leap off a cliff.

Whitney Frazier is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, arts administrator and activist living in Baltimore City, MD. She completed her MFA in Community Arts at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2013. Since relocating to Baltimore 2002, Frazier has developed her community arts practice in neighborhoods throughout Baltimore City. Currently, Frazier is completing a series of meditative paintings in her studio, teaching courses at MICA, raising her daughter and advocating for arts in Baltimore schools in her role at local non-profit, Arts Every Day. Her most recent community based project is in neighborhood called Darley Park in East Baltimore. Frazier facilitates design workshops with residents who want to activate two adopt-a-lots with murals, outdoor amphitheater, play elements and other visual attractions. She will install a large, outdoor parachute cloth mural in Spring 2018. Prior to her work in Darley Park, Frazier produced Cycles, an illustrated, interactive women’s health book & videos created with students from St. FrancesAcademy, the oldest catholic school in Baltimore. In 2012, Frazier completed the first three horizontal murals in major intersections in partnership with Baltimore City Department of Transportation. Whether she is creating murals, videos, performances or paintings, Frazier believes that through a collaborative process art has the ability to create social justice and strengthen our communities.
