The majority of my art is very important to me and has a connection to how I think about the world. In most cases there is some kind of thesis or intellectual concept that I'm exploring through art.
My influences in art come from many places. From an artistic standpoint I'm most influenced by Basquiat, Warhol, Goya, Miro and Picasso, but I'm equally influenced by non-artists. A lot of my inspiration also comes from architects and architectural theory as well as musicians and record producers.
Weston Baker [born 1988] has shown work in museums and galleries in New York City, Seattle, Rome, Barcelona and Ithaca, New York, where he graduated from the Bachelor of Architecture program at Cornell University. After graduating he worked at the renowned Skidmore, Owings & Merrill as an architectural designer primarily on skyscrapers and masterplan projects. He has also worked in New York city in Art Director and Lead Creative Director positions on campaigns, websites and branding projects for industry leading companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Verizon, Omega Watches, Vornado Realty, Spotify, Michael Kors, Pepsi, Roc Nation, Verizon and others. Baker's art references his interests in architecture, graphic design and mixed-media. He explores different ways to represent ideas and points of view that are typically infused with the reoccurring theme of synthesizing different elements. The art often has angular and architectural elements and uses metaphors to express and emphasize meanings.
