Any time I have time to paint is time well spent. I don't consider it just a hobby. It's more important to me than that. Some of the paintbrushes I use are at least twenty five years old. I have trimmed paint brushes into certain shapes to get just the right affect I want to see on the canvas. I do not use any linseed oil or medium other than thinner to control the flow of the paint on the canvas. " Keep it simple " someone told me that a long time ago.
After years of trying different methods and spending lots of money on supplies I only use once or twice, I agree with the adage. Most of my paintings measure 16 X 20. I find it easier to work with and easy to ship. Just the right size for most walls after there framed.
Inspiration for me starts with a beautiful light that falls in between the leaves of the trees and then on to the grass and flowers below. I take my camera with me when we travel so I can capture nature at it's best. I never run out of the creative urge.

Art should create an emotional reaction to the visual. I am a designer by trade and artist at heart . A life long resident of California and mostly self taught. I did pursue a degree but did not get to finish. I stared painting at the age of ten. First with oils and water colors. Then acrylics and back to oils. Later on, I was very fortunate to be mentored by Keith Ward for a time. He was a master impressionist and illustrator. Over time my methods and technique have changed and so has my art. Over all , I consider myself an impressionist. I love colorful landscapes, beautiful gardens , flowers and I enjoy painting animal portraits. On occasion, I will step outside my box and paint an abstract. Beauty is all around us. I treasure my gift and enjoy sharing my work with people who appecite art and the artist. As I go through the inteness process of creating a painting, I loose track of time. I love that ! I hope you will find your way to escape. Thank you Wendy Griffitts-Williams
