This figurative oil painting was inspired by my aerial view of a woman in a red coat under an umbrella walking on St. Germain in the April rain in Paris as viewed from my balcony at the Hotel Lutetia. The foreshortened walking figure was painted with a new type of mark making termed Pixel Impressionism, my signature style in which the expressive swashes of paint depict the moving pixels from the original digital video reference image. This contemporary figurative art is created with archival materials on canvas-wrapped panel . It is ready to frame in a standard-sized 5" x 7" frame to suit your decor.
I am a painter who has based my popular overhead series on images from a digital video camera. The result brings together the perspective of the camera with the nuance control of light and color that can only happen with brush on canvas.

Born in New Orleans in 1965, my work reflects the culmination of 30 years of painting the figure. I have had many solo shows in the U.S. and Mexico, have sold hundreds of paintings to collectors around the world, and my Impressionistic figure paintings have been included in juried shows at Otis College, Los Angeles, Ventura College, Orange County Center For Contemporary Art, Long Beach Arts, TAG Santa Monica and Gallery 825 in Los Angeles. My latest series, Overview, was selected as an LA Times Calendar pick, won awards at juried exhibits at the California Open and Long Beach Arts. An interview with me about this series was featured on both My work has been featured in the LA Times, Daily News, The Huffington Post and on CNN and KTLA in Los Angeles.
