Colourful nature inspired paintings
My work is always linked to an aspect of nature, whether it is the depiction of a beautiful flower and the joy I get from it, or how we relate to nature as being part of it in life and death as organic and spiritual beings. Nature's often unusual beauty is what inspires me. I try to capture a feeling from when I first encounter a flower, bird or insect. I am inspired by the true joy generated from such an experience and my work explores this beauty through colour and form.
My main subject matter of interest are flowers and plants and I collect information through photography and drawings wherever I can. I'm always watching Nature and enjoy seeing the various aspects that people may not initially notice, such as weeds and tiny flowers growing at the side of pavements! I use such information to create motif patterns in my paintings to decorate the painted surface.
My most recent work has been mainly exploring landscape art which is an area of nature inspired art I am yet to explore fully and I am now giving time to. As my main subject matter is flowers I am currently combining the two.
I've been painting and making things for as long as I can remember and come from a creative family mainly rooted in crafts. My real love is painting in particular using oils. I exhibit my work mainly locally, but from time to time take part in art fairs around the country and put on a show with other artists at a gallery local to the city centre on an annual basis.
