The Monolith 2 is the second in a series inspired by the movie 2001, A Space Odyssey. To me it represents breakthroughs in intelligence and creativity, on multiple levels.
Breakthroughs sometimes can't be forced. In those times when we don't know what to do to further a situation, the wisest course is to do nothing until we have clarity. Frequently the situations resolve themselves without our "efforting."
Solutions break through in flashes of inspiration, and for me this happens during the night when I wake up with ideas.
This piece is a mixed media painting incorporating watercolor and ink, on acid free watercolor paper. The image measures 8" x 8". It is mounted to a black mat which measures 12" x 12" It has been sealed with a matte varnish for protection against fading, humidity and soiling. Due to the balanced composition, you can turn it with any side as the top. It is ready to slip into your 12" x 12" frame. Should you prefer a different mat, the painting is easily removed.
