The main ideas behind my work are spontaneity and exploration. Spontaneity is important in the making of my art because with it, the picture becomes a living, breathing thing. The spontaneous crafting of a piece often comes from an unknown source, call it the muse, the unconscious, or the spiritual. It is hard to put a finger on inspiration. But what is certain is that without spontaneity, art that pushes the boundaries is virtually impossible.

Art is my place for experimentation. Instead of creating compounds like a chemist, I create works of imaginatIon. I am constantly exploring new territories in my art in the hope that I may create something both powerful and pleasing. I may not be the most gifted draftsman, but neither was Van Gogh. I create for the pleasure of creation, and for that reason, not all of it is suitable for digestion. But, I hope, with time will come understanding and appreciation.

Hello, my name is Tony Knaak. I am interested in the healing aspects of space, shape, line and color. Like stained glass windows, I hope for spiritual freedom in the field of abstraction. Innovation and exploration guide me to paint, while my imagination and restless nature point me in the direction of deeper waters. I hope you will join me on this journey into the unknown. For both artist and art collector, the challenge lies in the seeing AND the believing. Come and explore with me!
