This work focuses on animism, presenting the robotic subject as being incarnated as the forest itself. The light-bulb antenna, combined with the stylized grasses and pink flowers, presents a strange birthday cake theme as well. This work is on a gallery wrapped canvas with black-painted sides.
Tiramisu - more commonly referred to as Tira - is a US-born artist who grew up in the vast suburbs of Southern California's "Inland Empire," just east of Los Angeles. As a transgender person and gender studies scholar, Tira pursues matters of gender within their painted worlds. Tira's vibrant and seemingly-alien landscapes present themes of animism through the natural world and its interaction with subjects/lifeforms typically considered "inorganic." Tira currently lives in Portland, Oregon, with their partner and 3 children.
