My abstract paintings are inspired by movement and communicating in ways that words don't have the capacity to let you do. I love soft colors, strong lines, and balance. I believe that the creation of art should include playing with materials, surfaces, styles. I work with a variety of media: oils, watercolors, acrylics, inks, charcoals, and on canvas, panels, yupo, and cold pressed paper. My dance paintings look to capture movement, connection, and drama. Most of my dance paintings are of Argentine Tango, which I dance myself. What I look to capture in these tango paintings in particular, is the connection between dancers. My studio is called Three Studios, based on my three loves: art, fitness, and dance. Right now I am mostly focused on my abstracts and dance paintings, but I also love painting cityscapes and people. You can see more of my paintings, check out my blog, watch videos, read about my travels and more at threestudiosblog.com!
My name is Lauren Bolshakov. My studio is called Three Studios, based on my three loves: art, fitness, and dance. I am a self taught artist and have been selling in galleries and online since 2008. My work has been collected internationally, featured in Better Homes and Gardens, won awards and been licensed by such retailers as Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Pier 1. I also dance Argentine tango, which I feel influences the fluidity of my work. I live in Charlotte, NC, and love to travel! Right now I am mostly focused on my abstracts and dance paintings, but I also love painting cityscapes and people.
