Ready to Hang
This piece is dedicated to my son, an exemplary soldier; who served his 4 years in Anchorage. He made the journey back home to Texas. Here for a brief moment, our family was whole again.
Now is back to complete his responsibility.
Originally from Mexico, with some studies in Industrial Design. I’m a self-taught mixed media artist. The human figure is the vehicle with which I can most positively represent. I’m fascinated and curious about the solitariness and complexity of human beings. My inspiration comes from many sources, and many artists, the first Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, Maria Izquierdo, Picasso, Remedios Varo, Elsa Mora, and many others. My creative process starts with an idea inspired by feelings, found objects, life, my favorite painter (Frida), ordinary events, thoughts, my trips in bicycle; all blended to offer and intriguing image. In painting it is always and experiment, that give me the opportunity let my imagination soar thought emotions. After the concept emerges, then is expressed onto canvas or panel wood that give me freedom to create more depth. The messy process start with acrylic paint, gesso, crayons, pencil, vintage paper, gouache, and a variety of mediums. An alchemy of found objects and a contemporary painting is created.
