Tessa currently lives in Miami, FL where, after working for two years as a nurse in a burn center, she enjoys sculpting and painting full time surrounded by the sun, sand, and her Devon Rex kitten. Tessa’s work as a Burn Nurse consisted of long hours of individualized wound care, which involves intricate application of various materials —surprisingly very similar to the skills utilized with clay and sculpture. Opposite to the often solitary journey of art, nursing provided Tessa with the opportunity to work closely with people and connect on a humanistic level. The experience was humbling, challenging, and impacted Tessa’s art in ways that were unexpected and inspired. Tessa realized her comfort and skill level with using only her hands, rather than a paintbrush, and started to focus on creating work beyond the confines of the two-dimensional. After spending much of her life immersed in painting, she recently found a home by merging the two into the next dimension.
