Ready to Hang

In the late 1950’s my grandfather designed some midcentury modern abstract horses for my grandmother who absolutely loved horses. His original design was made out of wood and laid out on a framed wood panel. My father nicknamed them “Orses”. We recently found his original patterns that had been stored in different family member’s basements for over 65 years. The pattern he used was in perfect condition and placed in an old brown envelope with his notary stamp embossed on the front!

I wanted to honor him by using his original patterns. I used acrylic paints and mediums similar to my other raku style work to get the crackle texture you see inside each of the shapes. Every crack is painted with a tiny brush.

This diptych is named after one of the famous “couples” from the 1950’s & 1960’s television shows – “Fred and Ethel” from the I love Lucy show.

As a young child, I spent many hours with my grandfather in his woodshop and am grateful that I inherited his love for creating and making things with his hands.

Each of the two paintings are on 14” x 26” x ¼ inch birch wood panels. They are permanently attached to a modern black “floating wood frame” (each frame is 15.5” x 27.5”), and are wired and ready to hang.

Thanks for taking a look at my gallery! I am a contemporary and abstract artist living in southern California. My work can be seen in galleries in Laguna Beach, CA, Dana Point, CA, and La Jolla, CA. I love saturated colors & textures that make you want to touch and explore what is there. Much of my work tends to have an Asian influence and feel. I paint for my soul and to share with others. Recent customer feedback: Terri's artwork was exactly what we wanted for our higher-end, mid century modern home. Gorgeous work. Seeing her paintings in photos is one thing, but actually looking at them in person blows you away. Her attention to detail, customer service, speed of response in communication and the use of the highest quality packing materials to ensure safe shipping and delivery place this artist well above and beyond any I've worked with previously - Brian We bought a beautiful red series of paintings from Terri. It is beautiful. The colors are a vivid, darker red. Together, they make a bold statement in our modern sun room. With a fluffy white rug and navy linen couch, the red provides a splash of color. The art came beautifully wrapped with a personal note! I highly recommend Terri and also Vango which helped us find such an original artist! - Lynn Ann Terri - all we can say is WOW! We love it! It was even more stunning in person! - Steve When I found Terri’s paintings on Vango, I was instantly attracted to her use of color and form. Every piece is very different from the other. She is a very talented abstract artist. I finally selected Sunset Prayer because it makes me feel connected to a place of peacefulness and hope whenever I look at it. I have it positioned in my office so that when I am talking face-to-face with my clients I can look over their shoulders and see it. It was months ago that I purchased the art and it still has the same lasting effect on me. It truly seems to transcend time and words. I was extremely pleased with the transaction - the painting arrived in a package that was well protected from possible damage due to shipping mishaps. It arrived when I was told that it would and in perfect condition. The most challenging part of the whole process was selecting which of her wonderful paintings to purchase. I plan to buy more in the future. --Conrad terrideskins.com
