Because I find realism boring (it's all around us always), I tend to paint and draw distorted humanoid figures. As time went on, I began playing around with the idea that all my figures live in the same alternate reality, inhabiting the same world. There's a story there, and all my paintings play a part in it's development, but it's up to the viewer to create their own story and watch how it develops in their mind. A single image could create endless stories and ideas. This little guy is just another character in this realm. He seems harmless and fun-loving, so that's what I went with

I've always had an unexplainable need to create something. I love the idea that art is a piece of the creator's mind out into tangible form. I love simplicity in art. Art that proudly displays all the imperfections and keeps a rough/raw edge inspires me. Children's art and outsider art are amazing in that they are 100% genuine and honest. There is no pretentiousness in their approach. You tell a child to draw a tree, they draw a tree as they see it. There is no clouded thought behind their imagination, nor is there any limits on their creative approach and process placed there by art "instructors." I've been told by many art students that I'm lucky to be self-taught, and I agree. I wouldn't have it any other way. Everything I do, know, and understand about art comes from pure passion and an unmeasurable amount of of frustration, mistakes, joy, rejection, success, happiness, humbleness, and literally blood, sweat, and tears. I hope you enjoy. I have been part of many juried exhibitions, including the 54th Annual Delta Exhibition, and have pieces in numerous private and corporate collections all over the country. -Taylor
