Ready to Hang
This piece was inspired by an old Atlas purchased for my son at a used-book store. I set out to recreate a typical page on canvas. Various hues and blues and greens provide density and modeling paste was used to create texture.
My name is T Shane Martin. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. Originally from Greenville, SC, I currently reside in Williamsburg, VA with my wife of 17 years and our 2 boys. Professionally, I have traveled 2 paths: after receiving a BA in Religious Studies and a Master of Divinity degree, I served as a Pastor for nearly 15 years. In 2010, I decided to pursue a new course and became a full-time Paramedic/Firefighter in Hampton, VA. I am grateful for both opportunities to serve and I anticipate both disciplines will remain a large part of my future. My interest in art began with my children as we frequently colored, painted, etc. It was the sensation of being at peace while creating the simplest "works of art" that got me hooked. From those early coloring books, my interests and experimentation expanded to what you see here. I never aspired to sell my work; typically when I create something with which I'm reasonably satisfied, I give it to someone I love. But the financial requirements of a family, and my curiosity regarding the possibility of someone being willing to pay for my art have led me to Vango. I am grateful for anyone who takes an interest in my artistic efforts, even though I'm at the front-end of this journey into creativity. What is offered here reflects my tastes; I only post what I would enjoy myself. So, I humbly offer these works to you and I hope they awaken some degree of delight.
