I started creating art again, as a hobby to keep me busy over a long holiday. I have found it to be a huge stress reliever for me.

I don't always have ideas swirling around in my head that need to come out like some artists... I may see something that inspires me and I go from there. Once I have an idea, I often cannot let it go until I stop what I am doing and try to get it down on canvas.

Started painting this after seeing a snippet of 'Eyes Wide Shut'. After researching the masks I found out that the long beak masks were used by doctors during the plague. They thought if they stuffed the beaks with herbs and good smelling items it would keep them from breathing in the microbes that caused the plague.

My name is Susan Peters. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I enjoy the creative process for each and every painting I create. Whether I deem it a success or not, I learn something each and every time. I enjoy all types of art, but painting is my passion. I find when I sit down with a paint brush and a palette of beautiful colors I can lose myself. I am drawn to bold colors and textures and it is evidenced through many of my works. I also enjoy experimentation in my work, sometimes I find the result pleasing, sometimes not. But the journey to come to that conclusion is often times more rewarding than the final result. I consider myself to be an emerging artist, as I am just starting to display my work. To date, I have displayed my art throughout North Carolina. I also currently display artwork with Local Color Gallery, which is a cooperative made up of 12 woman artists. I am a member of many local art associations and I have work in private collections across the United States. In addition to painting, I also enjoy horseback riding, yoga, visiting with friends and family, and traveling.
