This painting was inspired by one of my favorite gemstones, Turquoise. I was trying out a new painting technique using bottles instead of brushes to apply paint to the canvas, and I thought it would be fun to try to create an abstract based on the beautiful colors and patterns of turquoise stones. I really like the way it turned out! :) Totally unique pattern, one of a kind. I added an iridescent medium to some of the paint on some of the layers, giving a subtle glow that I think is really pretty.
This is my original painting, signed front and back, with title and date.
Thanks so much for looking! :)
Note: I signed this painting on the front at an angle, so that this painting can be hung in either portrait (as seen in the picture here) or landscape, whichever way you like it best. :)
Hi there! My name is Rachel, I am a self taught artist living in New York. I've been an artist all my life -- from the moment I picked up my first crayon, lol. Colored pencils followed, then watercolors and charcoal, finally moving on to acrylic paint and canvas. My goal is to make art that will hopefully make people happy when they look at it; to make the world a little more beautiful, one wall at a time! ;) Creating custom commissioned paintings is one of my favorite things about being an artist -- I really enjoy creating a piece that is just what the customer was looking for. Thanks so much for taking a look at my artwork (and caring enough to check out my Artist Bio). I hope you find my artwork to your liking! ;) P.S. Follow me on Twitter (@PartlySunnyArt) to see pics of paintings-in-progress and keep in touch! And if you'd like to see even more of my artwork check out my website at PartlySunnyStudio.com! :)
