Abstract blossoming tree, copper flowers (with blue centers) on a metallic silver background with rainbow colored swirls done with a technique called sgraffito.
This piece was created in a lot of layers ... First I painted a wash of rainbow colors and let it dry completely, then painted over that with metallic silver paint and while the silver paint was still wet, I took a plastic fork and had some fun making all those swirls and circles that scraped the wet silver paint off to show the rainbow colored first layer! Kind of complicated, yes, but oh-so-much fun! :)
The swirls and circles represent the paths we take in life; our journey.
The metallic copper and silver paints really catch the light in a cool way when seen in person!
This is my original painting, signed front and back with title and date.
Hope you like it! Thanks for looking!
Hi there! My name is Rachel, I am a self taught artist living in New York. I've been an artist all my life -- from the moment I picked up my first crayon, lol. Colored pencils followed, then watercolors and charcoal, finally moving on to acrylic paint and canvas. My goal is to make art that will hopefully make people happy when they look at it; to make the world a little more beautiful, one wall at a time! ;) Creating custom commissioned paintings is one of my favorite things about being an artist -- I really enjoy creating a piece that is just what the customer was looking for. Thanks so much for taking a look at my artwork (and caring enough to check out my Artist Bio). I hope you find my artwork to your liking! ;) P.S. Follow me on Twitter (@PartlySunnyArt) to see pics of paintings-in-progress and keep in touch! And if you'd like to see even more of my artwork check out my website at PartlySunnyStudio.com! :)
