This painting was inspired by memories of the times my family went to go see fireworks on the 4th of July when I was a kid.
To create this piece, I first painted colorful circles in varying sizes, then after the first layer of paint was dry I covered the entire canvas with black paint. While the black paint was still wet, I used a plastic fork to scrape some of it away, thus showing the colors underneath and creating the look of fireworks! Quite the process, yes, but totally worth it in the end (I think). :)
Hi there! My name is Rachel, I am a self taught artist living in New York. I've been an artist all my life -- from the moment I picked up my first crayon, lol. Colored pencils followed, then watercolors and charcoal, finally moving on to acrylic paint and canvas. My goal is to make art that will hopefully make people happy when they look at it; to make the world a little more beautiful, one wall at a time! ;) Creating custom commissioned paintings is one of my favorite things about being an artist -- I really enjoy creating a piece that is just what the customer was looking for. Thanks so much for taking a look at my artwork (and caring enough to check out my Artist Bio). I hope you find my artwork to your liking! ;) P.S. Follow me on Twitter (@PartlySunnyArt) to see pics of paintings-in-progress and keep in touch! And if you'd like to see even more of my artwork check out my website at PartlySunnyStudio.com! :)
