Caves have always fascinated me with their mysterious interiors, interesting formations, and beautiful colors. The sky, planets, the moon and space in general amaze me as well. This series is a combination of these two fantastic worlds coming together in order to create an unworldly space. My inspirations for this series came from caves that I have visited in person throughout my life and those that I have only seen in pictures. A personal collection of cave pictures is the main reference in creating these paintings. Aerial photos of Earth are also referenced when choosing the colors and textures. The sky is created based on the nights that I would spend in the backyard staring at the sky as a child.
These paintings are imaginary scenes that reference reality. Lines, shapes, colors and forms come together to create a world that might exist on Earth or an undiscovered planet located somewhere in the galaxy.
I am a visual artist living in Wylie, TX. My specialty is in watercolor; I have painted with this medium for 14 years. I am mostly inspired by nature's colors, shapes, and textures when creating my work. Before I start each painting, I look at aerial photos of Earth for inspiration, reference and sketch. Color is one of the main elements in my paintings. I believe it creates certain mood and/or feel depend on how it is used. Textures also add a tangible aspect to my work which gives an extra dimension to a two-dimensional painting. I followed my passion in Art academically and graduated Summa Cum Laude with Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from Texas Woman's University. Some of my recent achievements are participating in juried exhibitions: Self Identities, Buenos Aires, Argentina and 5th Annual International Islamic Art Revival Series at Irving Arts Center, TX.
