Eternal Mysteries is a series of watercolor paintings inspired by one of Khayyam’s Rubaiyat. In this rubaii (a four-line poem) Khayyam talks about the mysteries of eternity and says that the secrets of eternal life will not be revealed to you and me in this world. This rubaii has been repeated in each of the images. The verses blend with the other elements of the painting and in a sense become part of the art work.
Aerial photos of Earth are used for inspiration to create an unknown atmosphere that emphasizes the uncertainty about eternal life.
I am a visual artist living in Wylie, TX. My specialty is in watercolor; I have painted with this medium for 14 years. I am mostly inspired by nature's colors, shapes, and textures when creating my work. Before I start each painting, I look at aerial photos of Earth for inspiration, reference and sketch. Color is one of the main elements in my paintings. I believe it creates certain mood and/or feel depend on how it is used. Textures also add a tangible aspect to my work which gives an extra dimension to a two-dimensional painting. I followed my passion in Art academically and graduated Summa Cum Laude with Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from Texas Woman's University. Some of my recent achievements are participating in juried exhibitions: Self Identities, Buenos Aires, Argentina and 5th Annual International Islamic Art Revival Series at Irving Arts Center, TX.
