The French Impressionist Paul Cezanne said it best; "...art without emotion is not art...". The composition in question has to arouse some sort of emotion in me before I can put it on canvas or panel. It could be an old structure that screams nostalgia, or a field or meadow that says 'beauty'. Basically whatever stops me in my tracks and causes me to stare at it and brings a tear to my eye will I then and only then immortalize it in art.
My name is Steven James Jorde. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I was born in Providence, Rhode Island and moved out to Idaho at a very young age. I have always been a person of creative congeniality and as time went on and I got a lot older my interest turned to the impressionist movement. I am a strict plein air, alla prima painter and will rarely (if ever) work from photographs. I recently recieved word that one of my paintings was accepted into a national juried show at the Carr Gallery located in Idaho Falls, Idaho from March 17th to mid June. I have also shown various impressionist works and miniatures at the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho and The Willow Tree Gallery, and am also a member of The Snake River Plein Air Painters. I am currently studying the foundations of art from the Virtual Art Academy and I look forward to working with the fine folks here at Vango. I hope to hear from all of you soon. Kind regards.
