What/who inspired the work?
-- I wondered if non-adversaries communicate in nature. Are they even aware of each other? If they DO have that awareness, what do they say?
What do you hope its viewers will feel/think?
-- What would a turtle say to a dragonfly?
Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style?
-- I wanted to try out an Ampersand "Claybord", which turned out to be a wonderful surface for painting.
After graduating from art school in 1975, I was faced with the very real problem of how to pay my bills. Back then, one could only sell paintings through the brick-and-mortar gallery system. That wasn't a promising way to make a living, so I reluctantly abandoned my hope of becoming a professional artist. In its place, I sought out a new career in computing. That was fun for many years, but now -- thankfully -- I've retired from all that, and can devote myself to art-making once again. Today, thanks to organizations like Vango, an artist can reach out to everyone in a much more direct manner. ¡Viva la internet!
