Ready to Hang

We were visiting the Olson House where Wyeth painted so many of his iconic works, when this horse came trotting up and headed straight for the old apple trees out back. I loved his determined trot. This was done with quality oil paints on stretched linen and may be hung without a frame.

There's a compulsion to interpret visual moments for this painter. The hope is that a special moment can somehow be preserved forever. I love working in oil paints. They are challenging and forgiving at the same time. Color, texture and light are the main components that I try to give center stage. And then sometimes I just paint a simple painting without much thought at all. It's all creative process.
