Ready to Hang
There is a short window in the spring when fiddleheads can be harvested for eating. They are a little bit like nutty asparagus. I like their shape and movement of slowly uncurling to become ferns. This is done with quality oils on linen and my be hung as is.
There's a compulsion to interpret visual moments for this painter. The hope is that a special moment can somehow be preserved forever. I love working in oil paints. They are challenging and forgiving at the same time. Color, texture and light are the main components that I try to give center stage. And then sometimes I just paint a simple painting without much thought at all. It's all creative process.
