Stormy is named after Misty of Chincotigue's foal. I loved those books dearly as a child.
Stormy is made up of all kinds of spring greens, a pop of yellow and a lemon foreground. This young horse is built up with layers of gray paint, black and white highlights. I love my drips, and there are plenty of them on this piece.
Welcome to The Artful Equestrian, my name is Stephanie Jeanne Hardy. Thank you for your interest in my artwork! I was born with a love of art, and a love of horses. My first painting as a professional, was a portrait of a horse. It wasn't long before I landed representation at the leading art gallery in Franklin, TN, where I showed my first collection of horse portraits. From there things just fell into place. My work has been featured in American Art Collector Magazine, Nashville Arts, Horses in Art Magazine, and Art Galleries of the South. When I'm not painting, I'm riding my horses. I have been an avid equestrian nearly my entire life, competing across the West Coast, Canada, and now, the South. My horses, Rory, Snuffles and Bing are my greatest loves. Although my French Bulldog, Bennie is forever my partner in crime! My love for animals is reflected in my art. However often I venture to paint different subjects, I always come back to the horse. They have long been a significant part of my life and played a vital role in my well being. Thanks for your interest in my artwork!
