I was feeling happy on the day this artwork was painted. I wanted to express that feeling in an upbeat painting. Using the colors of yellow and blue, I layed them and removed parts of each layer to reveal the color underneath.
The result reminded me of a spring "flower garden." The title was an easy one to pick. It has also been described as water lilies floating in a pool of blue water. Whatever the description, the result is one of elation and happiness. This painting is framed. The dimensions shown are the actual size of the painting. The frame adds 3 inches to each side.
I have been an artist all my life. I obtained a BA degree in graphic design and fine art at UW-Whitewater, WI. I worked for many years as a graphic designer and art director. It was about ten years ago that I began to make art my full time profession, specifically abstract art. I work primarily in fluid acrylic paint and heavy body acrylic, using canvas and paper as my two substrates. I have exhibited all over the world and extensively in the USA, winning Best in Show at an exhibition in Chicago, IL. Abroad most notably winning first place for a wine bottle label competition at an Italian exhibition, and a bronze award at an exhibition in London, England. I currently exhibit my work at Raven's Wish Art Gallery and The Elinor Mills Gallery in Janesville WI and Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor WI.
