The purpose of art is washing the dust of our daily lives off our souls ~ Picasso Life without art is colorless and drab, the magic fades, there is no excitement, no creativity, no joy. Creating art breathes magic back into life, shows the colors of our emotions and how we experience our world. After all, without art, what is the point of living? I have been an artist all my life. I grew up watching my mom take the most beautiful photographs - which she still does to this day. She experimented with different media, and created things that were beautiful, thought provoking, and challenging. I knew I wanted to do the same thing. I grew up coloring with crayons at first - always outside the lines in order to create my own images. Later, I moved on to colored pencils, and chalk. Sidewalk chalk can be a pretty great for a little kid - even with the limited colors. By the time I reached high school, I knew I wanted to create art for the rest of my life. Colored pencils are still my favorite medium, although paint and chalk pastels run a close second. Art is my expression, the way I cope with stress, show happiness, or even sadness - the way I am able to show others how I see the world around me.
