Ready to Hang
"Curious Dog" is an Original work of art that was cut from 1/4" panel with 3/4" spacers from the wall and for hanging. It comes in 2 pieces separated by a 3/8" round flower stem.
Crazy Critters started in 1998 and became an annual event at the Excentrique Functional Art Gallery called The Dog & Cat Show. The gallery moved and reopened as the Skinner Howard Contemporary Art Gallery and later the tradition continued to the Adamson Gallery as well as the Sacramento Temporary Contemporary Gallery.
These show were partly fundraisers to benefit non-profit organizations who shelter and care for animals in the area. I have been drawing cartoon characters ever sense I can remember so this was a perfect fit. The shows have been a lot of fun and my Crazy Critter Collection has increased. I'm now adding these images to many Gifts and Accessories.
My work consists of Whimsical Bold Graphics, High Contrast Pop-Art, 'Cartoonish to Abstracts' My work is a combination of paintings and cut-outs that are a mixture of pop and abstract art styles which seem to always be merging together. My work is more about the construction, not so much of the brush strokes but the lack of them. I brush, roll, spray, splatter and stamp my art using acrylics, glazes, textures, image transfer and collage on canvas, panel and board. My art has always been about the color almost to an obsession. I crave it! I love big bold blasts of color, large drips, and splatters. I use bold black outlines to keep it all organized and to add contrast—it has to have contrast! I grew up aspiring to be a cartoonist which gives my work a whimsical feel. I have been influenced greatly by Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein and Jean-Michel Basquiat. I hope that my art is fun and uplifting and that it brings you joy.
