I am attracted to abstraction because what I want to paint is not what I can see, but what I can't see. There is a mystery behind things, and that mystery is what I’m always reaching for. This painting is about space and time. How do you make a painting about space and time? I don't know. It's impossible. But that's what makes it interesting to try.

Sheryl Tempchin is an abstract painter living in the coastal community of Encinitas, near San Diego, California. Her work has been shown in many places including the L Street Gallery in San Diego, Las Laguna Gallery in Laguna, California, the Oceanside Museum of Art, the San Diego Art Institute, Verum Ultimum Gallery in Portland, Oregon, the Connecticut Academy of Fine Art, and the Sylvia White Gallery in Ventura, California.
