This painting is the the first abstract in a series called Abstract Agate. Agate is a mineral of the Quartz family. Its name comes from the Achates River in Sicily, where Agates were first found. Usually banded in layers, or stripes, some varieties have "eye" markings, or specks of color, some have fossilized inclusions, and others are solid. Agate promotes inner stability, composure, and maturity. The Agate series revolves around the natural and organic state the paint takes creating a spectacular display of layers. The contrast between the matte canvas and the high gloss acrylic makes the "Agate" look wet and alive. This painting is not stretched over wood or framed.
Comes signed, dated and with certificate of Authenticity.
I am a native Texan and come from a large family being the youngest of eight children. I began painting at a very early age. My first painting award was given at the tender age of eight years old. Throughout the years, I have experimented with all types of mediums including oil, water, spray paint and acrylic. I also dabbled in sculptures and woodworking. It wasn’t until I developed a unique technique with acrylic that led to me to the style of painting I use today. Over the years, I have won several awards and continue to hone my craft one painting at a time. I truly love the organic nature of modern art and hope to contribute for years to come. shellysmodernart.com
