The title for this cheerful painting is obvious, since the entire painting is bathed in sunny warmth. This painting is from 2012, and is a matted watercolor. It is not framed.
My inspiration in creating this piece were the farm fields of Minnesota, in the northern part of the state near Duluth, one of my favorite cities in Minnesota, and also the most hilly.
I grew up in a small town in Minnesota, surrounded by farm fields, and this one is painted from my imagination and memories.
Many years ago in the frozen north (Minnesota) I was a talented child drawer. That led to a love of painting that I have had all of my life. I received a degree in illustration while in high school. Later I studied fine arts painting at a MN university and have been painting ever since. I paint mostly in acrylic and watercolors but I also do occasional oil paintings. I do portraits, landscapes, and abstracts, and occasional series like wildlife on abstract backgrounds. I'm very interested in environmental causes and often do paintings about those themes. I sometimes work in a series but ultimately paint what inspires me. Originally from MN, I have also lived in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, North Dakota, and northern Minnesota. I don't really love to move, but I love to travel, especially to central America. Sometimes I interpret my travel photos later as paintings. I now live in the Atlanta Georgia area with my husband and cute dog. My studio is in my home so I can paint at 3:00 am if I want to, and yes, that happens. I'm a night owl painter, because that's often when the magic happens.
