The reason I chose the title for this piece: I incorporate nature even in my abstract paintings. This clearly looks to me like the reflection of sky in water. Since I love the outdoors, I have seen this in rivers and lakes many times. I created this piece in 2014 when creating many abstracts inspired by the environment. My inspiration in creating this piece is the environment. I love nature and do all I can to try to raise awareness of protecting the environment. Water and atmosphere are two of the most important things my art work can remind people of, so I use a lot of blue and green in my work. (please share more about the story of this piece)
Many years ago in the frozen north (Minnesota) I was a talented child drawer. That led to a love of painting that I have had all of my life. I received a degree in illustration while in high school. Later I studied fine arts painting at a MN university and have been painting ever since. I paint mostly in acrylic and watercolors but I also do occasional oil paintings. I do portraits, landscapes, and abstracts, and occasional series like wildlife on abstract backgrounds. I'm very interested in environmental causes and often do paintings about those themes. I sometimes work in a series but ultimately paint what inspires me. Originally from MN, I have also lived in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, North Dakota, and northern Minnesota. I don't really love to move, but I love to travel, especially to central America. Sometimes I interpret my travel photos later as paintings. I now live in the Atlanta Georgia area with my husband and cute dog. My studio is in my home so I can paint at 3:00 am if I want to, and yes, that happens. I'm a night owl painter, because that's often when the magic happens.
