Pumpkin Beach is a fantasy island beach where these two "sirens" of the sea landed. The women are apparently made of sand, so it's not clear whether they are real or not. The fantasy landscape is partially abstract so it is not based on a real place, other than one of my favorite beaches, maybe in Mexico, maybe in Florida. This painting says Summer and Island more than anything I have done recently. Get some beach vibes with this lovely orange and blue seascape. This painting is acrylic with a simple black frame around the outside edges of the gallery-wrapped canvas.
Many years ago in the frozen north (Minnesota) I was a talented child drawer. That led to a love of painting that I have had all of my life. I received a degree in illustration while in high school. Later I studied fine arts painting at a MN university and have been painting ever since. I paint mostly in acrylic and watercolors but I also do occasional oil paintings. I do portraits, landscapes, and abstracts, and occasional series like wildlife on abstract backgrounds. I'm very interested in environmental causes and often do paintings about those themes. I sometimes work in a series but ultimately paint what inspires me. Originally from MN, I have also lived in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, North Dakota, and northern Minnesota. I don't really love to move, but I love to travel, especially to central America. Sometimes I interpret my travel photos later as paintings. I now live in the Atlanta Georgia area with my husband and cute dog. My studio is in my home so I can paint at 3:00 am if I want to, and yes, that happens. I'm a night owl painter, because that's often when the magic happens.
