This is a new ethereal painting based on a NASA photo of a nebula. It's acrylic on painting panel, and basically a beautiful abstract in reds and warm colors. I have been interested in astronomy and the mysteries of the universe all my life. I believe there is a lot out there we don't understand and I attempted to capture some of that mystery in this abstract painting. I am doing a series of paintings on astronomy and nebulas to capture some of that original wonder I had when I first saw our own galaxy. There is so much out there to understand. This painting has texture as well as an amazing blending smoothness of the colors. Think of space with a mysterious element in the middle of the nebula field. The painting comes with a black composite frame.

Many years ago in the frozen north (Minnesota) I was a talented child drawer. That led to a love of painting that I have had all of my life. I received a degree in illustration while in high school. Later I studied fine arts painting at a MN university and have been painting ever since. I paint mostly in acrylic and watercolors but I also do occasional oil paintings. I do portraits, landscapes, and abstracts, and occasional series like wildlife on abstract backgrounds. I'm very interested in environmental causes and often do paintings about those themes. I sometimes work in a series but ultimately paint what inspires me. Originally from MN, I have also lived in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, North Dakota, and northern Minnesota. I don't really love to move, but I love to travel, especially to central America. Sometimes I interpret my travel photos later as paintings. I now live in the Atlanta Georgia area with my husband and cute dog. My studio is in my home so I can paint at 3:00 am if I want to, and yes, that happens. I'm a night owl painter, because that's often when the magic happens.
