Ready to Hang
La Frontera is the wild space between countries in central America, a place I love and it's also the wild spaces in space, which I love to look at and imagine. This painting is an inspiring, mysterious abstract that glows with dark color in reds, dark blues, spacey grey, and golds. It reminds us of the nebulas we can see and those we can only imagine. This painting is 24" x 24", painted on gallery wrapped canvas. It is moderately textured and layered with color and contrast.
Long ago in a galaxy not very far away, I was a talented child drawer. That morphed into a love of painting that I have had most of my life. I received a degree in illustration while in high school. Later I studied fine arts painting at a university and have been painting ever since. I paint mostly in acrylic and watercolors. I do portraits, landscapes, and abstracts, and occasional series like wildlife on abstract backgrounds. I'm very interested in environmental causes and often do paintings about those themes. I am now doing an ongoing abstract series based on astronomy, a long-time love of mine. I am originally from Minnesota. I have also lived in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, North Dakota, and northern Minnesota. I don't really love to move, but I love to travel, especially to central America. Sometimes I interpret my travel photos later as paintings. I now live in the Atlanta Georgia area with my husband and cute dog. My studio is in my home so I can paint at 3:00 am if I want to, and yes, that happens. I'm a night owl painter, because for me, that's when the magic happens.
