This painting is a colorful abstract representation of a wildfire, and the wildIife fires endanger. (And no I didn't have that iconic Disney movie in mind when I painted it because I've never seen it). I am concerned with the environment, climate change, and the wildfires that drought leads to.
This poor deer, a common sight in my native Minnesota and elsewhere in the midwest, is looking at the viewer and hoping for a sympathetic response. Other than the meaning, the painting is beautiful and colorful. It is beautifully framed, and ready for hanging in any room that needs a bump of color.

Many years ago in the frozen north (Minnesota) I was a talented child drawer. That led to a love of painting that I have had all of my life. I received a degree in illustration while in high school. Later I studied fine arts painting at a MN university and have been painting ever since. I paint mostly in acrylic and watercolors but I also do occasional oil paintings. I do portraits, landscapes, and abstracts, and occasional series like wildlife on abstract backgrounds. I'm very interested in environmental causes and often do paintings about those themes. I sometimes work in a series but ultimately paint what inspires me. Originally from MN, I have also lived in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, North Dakota, and northern Minnesota. I don't really love to move, but I love to travel, especially to central America. Sometimes I interpret my travel photos later as paintings. I now live in the Atlanta Georgia area with my husband and cute dog. My studio is in my home so I can paint at 3:00 am if I want to, and yes, that happens. I'm a night owl painter, because that's often when the magic happens.
