Borrowing a line from Lucille Ball- this Tiki Tart's asking the quintessential Polynesian question. And it's certainly 5 o'clock in some tropical port. Ebony Tiki God is all ablaze for this Mid Century Modern lovely. An Hibiscus blossom in her auburn hair, no less. Ain't love grand?!
The Tiki culture in the USA got its jumpstart in the mid 1930's with the opening of the Hollywood based "Don The Beachcomber" restaurant. The rest is Mai Tai flavored history.
My name is Shawn Shea. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I have been painting since I was seven. Have owned an illustration studio for many years and am now working full time as a fine artist providing the highest quality art to galleries, collectors and private commission clients. This first series of paintings here on Vango are my take on the Mid Century Modern retro aesthetic. Have always loved retro, noir, tiki sensibilities and LOVE exploring the genre. I hope you enjoy these and will follow me as I explore them and also appreciate the landscape and wildlife fine art I'll be showing, also. Looking forward to sharing my art with this community. Deep gratitude for taking the time to look at the work.
