Ready to Hang

I am a full-time artist who creates pieces that are inspired by mother nature and her beauty. I recently visited the Conservators Center in Mebane, NC, where Katrina the lioness resides. The beauty of these majestic creatures sparked my painting muses, and the eyes of Katrina in the original photo taken by photographer Taylor Hattori, captured her heart and soul. The title MATKA is Russian for “Queen Bee.”

The eyes of this painting have an added glossy varnish to make them pop. This piece is gallery wrapped with a 2.25" width and painted so that it should be hung without a frame. t animal portraits or landscape art, capturing the beauty of the moment. Thanks for your support!

Florida native, Shawn Hart earned a BA from the University of Central Florida where she studied visual arts and psychology. She later earned her MBA to support her business/marketing career. Hart spent more than 17 years working in a corporate job, primarily in digital design, marketing, web design, social media, IT, and project management. However, in 2013, she decided to refocus her career to pursue artistic fervor, moved to NC, and began painting full time. From an early age, Shawn Hart discovered her passions: the love of animals and creating art. She incorporated these elements in her work, painting portraits of animals, among other nature-inspired subjects. Hart has created numerous private commissions, with collectors across the continental United States, Brazil, Canada, and a growing market in the UK. Painting primarily oil on canvas, she starts each portrait the eyes of the animal, which she believes are the windows to the soul. Her style reflects the use of abstract negative space to provide contrast to the focus point, which she captures in detail. Her work can also be found online through her whimsical business name, Earth Muffin Studio, which describes Hart as an nature-loving individual, and can be found as a studio artist at Artspace of Raleigh, NC.
