Ready to Hang

This piece was inspired by a friend's North Carolina Kayak Adventure. I really loved how the deep blues in the water create texture and depth to counter-act the soft greens in the background. Ready for a kayak trip?

Why create this piece? There is a small area in the painting that injured and gingerly patched back together. I decided to create this piece around this little flaw, because I thought this canvas deserved a chance for something beautiful, rather than ending up in the landfill. The small flaw resides in the water's edge to remain out of notice. A viewer would only be able to tell typically, if you turn the canvas around and look at the back, but who does that when it's hung on the wall? ;) Enjoy the bargin price for an original painting this size and give this canvas a chance!

Florida native, Shawn Hart earned a BA from the University of Central Florida where she studied visual arts and psychology. She later earned her MBA to support her business/marketing career. Hart spent more than 17 years working in a corporate job, primarily in digital design, marketing, web design, social media, IT, and project management. However, in 2013, she decided to refocus her career to pursue artistic fervor, moved to NC, and began painting full time. From an early age, Shawn Hart discovered her passions: the love of animals and creating art. She incorporated these elements in her work, painting portraits of animals, among other nature-inspired subjects. Hart has created numerous private commissions, with collectors across the continental United States, Brazil, Canada, and a growing market in the UK. Painting primarily oil on canvas, she starts each portrait the eyes of the animal, which she believes are the windows to the soul. Her style reflects the use of abstract negative space to provide contrast to the focus point, which she captures in detail. Her work can also be found online through her whimsical business name, Earth Muffin Studio, which describes Hart as an nature-loving individual, and can be found as a studio artist at Artspace of Raleigh, NC.
