I painted this Piece on and off over a 6 month time period. My vacation to Monte Carlo really inspired me to paint this painting.
Shahen's talents bridge the worlds of fine art, graffiti/street art, traditional animation, and digital painting. His work has been exhibited at The Hecht Gallery, and featured in a custom installation at LACMA. He has skillfully evolved his fine art and mural talents into the digital realm, and now thrives as a top concept artist and digital matte painter for feature films, TV series, and commercials. Early in Shahen's career, he created background paintings for the updated "Scooby-Doo!" television series at Hanna-Barbera. His work there had a unique perspective, since his father had been a background painter on the first Scooby-Do series in the 1970's – Shahen even used some of his father's original paintings as reference for his own. Dreamworks then tapped Shahen to round out the core team of artists who launched the studio's TV Animation department. Soon after, he was moved to Dreamworks Feature Animation as a conceptual artist where he was able to beautifully translate the realistic lighting techniques he'd perfected in his fine art experience onto a digital palette. Shahen's understated demeanor belies his collaborations with some of the industry's most visionary directors including Tim Burton, Guillermo del Toro, McG, David Fincher, and Tony Scott. Some of Shahen's most notable creations can be seen in: "The Green Lantern", "Alice In Wonderland 3D", "Iron Man", "Terminator: Salvation", "Hancock", "Speed Racer", and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".
