The acorn is a sacred symbol, an archetype and an image that resonates as the source of conception. It is food and seed, crown and scepter. Within each acorn is a mighty oak. Potential, thy name is Acorn!
I'm living in the Irish countryside, close to nature and to the animals I love. Being close to the natural world results in the direct expression of the animal in my work. These paintings represent the archetypes inhabiting the rivers and woods, the valleys and the sea. Each one a totem. Each one a link to a living animal spirit. Each one sacred. I'm interested in the iconography of other sacred images as well. These paintings represent ideals. For example, The Rooster of Barcelos represents Justice. I find that acrylic on canvas is the appropriate medium for this particular style of painting. I want the color to be lush, opaque and durable. I often do several different paintings of the same subject. If you see something you like, but are unable to buy it, stop by later on and a similar painting may be available. My agent in North America is New Publishing Company. The address provided is theirs.
