"The Industrial Man" is an original mixed media painting made using acrylic paint, paper cutting from magazine, and marker, on acid free heavy weight linen finish Acrylic Paper (400gsm) of 12”x12”. It is a figurative abstract painting in multicolour, an exploration in my series of paintings "The Circle of Life" using circles in the paintings.

"The Industrial Man" tells the story of the present day human beings - wired, networked, connected, and entangled. Life may appear to be "wireless", yet wi-fi connected everywhere, every moment of life spent multitasking, and entangled.

This painting started with pasting paper cuttings for the figure, the lines using marker and bright acrylic paint. No prior pencil drawing was made for this painting. The expressions came while painting. This painting uses limited amount of collage by pasting coloured paper from magazines, and also gives collage-effect using acrylic paint.

I draw and paint intuitively and spontaneously, trying to move from chaos and void to order, balance and rhythm. I go with the flow. I paint only something that I connect to, something that comes from deep within. For me, art is like meditation and music. It blocks out all negativities and pressures. It puts me in a state of “flow” (as stated by Mihaly). I love to explore different mediums from black pen and marker to bright and vibrant colours. To me, art is the expression of the self, though the underlying meaning of art also depends on the viewer, the audience and the interpreter. I do believe that art has the power to influence minds and societies. Knowingly or unknowingly, art has an impact on us and influences on not only the creator of work of art, but also on the viewer. I believe in the power of colours to help evoke a positive or negative response.
