“White Space Design” is a body of work that focuses on the ideals of pattern. It can represent many different things throughout humanity. The people, the beliefs they follow, the natural world around you, the history of subjects and the traditions that have been followed. Different colors and shapes vary meanings throughout different cultures, but the idea is carried down from generation to generation. From birth to death, pattern is a part of everyday life and cultural practice.
Throughout my last 20 years in the field of fine arts, I have had an exquisite fascination with color theory and the effects of using the entire spectrum within a work to create illusions and movement. My inspirations such as Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely have given me the foundation in my studies of their works, and I have built upon that, along with my background in graphic design, to create abstracted portraits, expressionistic designs, and intricate mandalas. Each of my main subject focuses has lone intentions, but comprise the same technique in which my art is created, that allow my work to be an homage to not only individuals or designs, but rather, color in general.
