Ready to Hang
Throughout time, there has been individuals that stand out among the crowd for their ideas, for their actions, for their achievements. These memorized image of these individuals begin to fade over time. My abstracted portrait series, entitled, “Fading Identities” is a homage to these individuals.
In my series, “White Space Designs,” I utilize popular culture references, to guide the viewer through the golden ages of design elements, in a setting that is straight out the 60s psychedelic era. Through "Op Art" I create kinetic paintings that amaze the mind and activate the space they are hung in.
My newest body of works, "Psychedelic Inspiration," utilizes short quotes in an op art scene. The quotes are strong and foul, some are soft and nice. Either way, you can see the quote if you want to see the quote when you walk into the room, then upon getting close to examine the piece, the quote disappears and it becomes a simple abstract painting.
Throughout my last 20 years in the field of fine arts, I have had an exquisite fascination with color theory and the effects of using the entire spectrum within a work to create illusions and movement. My inspirations such as Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely have given me the foundation in my studies of their works, and I have built upon that, along with my background in graphic design, to create abstracted portraits, expressionistic designs, and intricate mandalas. Each of my main subject focuses has lone intentions, but comprise the same technique in which my art is created, that allow my work to be an homage to not only individuals or designs, but rather, color in general.
